In my office, i have a poster hanging on the wall above my desk with the word "RTFM" on it, which means "Read The....FINE Manual". But today the project manager came by and asked me to remove it :-(.
Farewell my RTFM, i no longer can tell people to RTFM when they ask stupid questions, or simply point at the poster and sniker when they do stupid stuff. Back to old plain get out of my face responses !!

Don't write... Think!!
At this years CEBIT exhibition, an austrian company demonstrated what they call "brain computer interface" techonology. Basically, you wear a hat on your yead, and whatever you think, the computer does. You can move objects, you can type letters, all by thinking of it!!
It works by measuring voltage fluctuations in your brain and translating them into computer commands.
Sounds like science fiction... But there are still some problem with the technology, for instance it requires some heavy training before it gets used to your brain fluctuations, you can only type letters not entire words, and it is a bit slow (maximum 18 letters / minute).
Nevertheless, who would have ever thought that this would have come this far? Amazing product... i can't wait to start doing all my work by thinking it... then again maybe i'll send an email telling somebody what i REALLy think about them :-p

Amazing work of art, the pictures and the article just portray the truth of the situation. I really can't find any words to describe it... it is beyond words.

Flash Quran
This is the best site i have seen so far that shows the Quran on the web. It is extremely interactive, very easy to use, and very appealing to the eye. Very well done job indeed. It doesn't show on the site who did the job, only an email.
Well, whoever did it, our deepest gratitude to you. Keep up the good work.

The Power of NO
It's been quite a while since i wrote my last blog post, you won't believe the amount of work that I've had those last couple of weeks. The reason i had that amount of work is that i lack the power of no.
You see, sometimes you really need to put a line somewhere and tell people, sorry i won't/can't do that. But i view those tough tasks as a challenge, and i just LOVE challenges, so i take them on saying "oh this isn't going to take too long", "this is an interesting topic", "oh, he's my friend, i can't let him down". The result? i have 5 concurrent projects all approaching their deadlines with incredible speed, and no end in sight :-(
If i was just a bit more assertive to say, "sorry mate, I'm quite busy now, can't take on another project, check back later", then i wouldn't be in my current position. I would have projects that i could juggle and deliver with optimal quality, i would have gained more respect for knowing my own limits, and most importantly i wouldn't have given the opportunity for others to criticize my work. (NB: everybody hates to be criticized, i try to be as professional as possible in accepting it, but it really cracks you when what people are saying is right :( ).
The point I'm trying to make is: If you say no, it's not letting people down, everybody has limits, and they should respect that you won't service them unless if you can do that to the best of your ability. Saying yes, then not delivering, THAT is letting people down.
I really need to become more assertive, but easier said than done.
